I ventured into native plant gardening in 2020 after stumbling upon South Shore Wild Ones and their native plant plug sale. Prior to this, I exclusively grew vegetables for 15 years in 8 raised beds on our 3/4 acre lot, and I knew nothing about growing non-edible plants. So, I bought books and tried to learn as much as I could. I also set about and continue to amend (mulched leaves and manure) the sandy soil throughout my yard. Currently, I have several areas that I’m working on establishing with native plants, so my garden is still very young.
